Switch between your pick and dowsing rod to find all the artifacts before your pick breaks. The dowsing rod reveals the distance from the nearest artifact, while your pick will dig it up. Careful not to miss, as your pick is surprising fragile.

This was quite a unique game that had me playing it for a fair amount of time, trying to beat your high score of 42. I managed it eventually! (largely due to huge amounts of luck with my last use of the dowsing rod always revealing a 0)

If I may make some suggestions, I'd really like having some kind of indicator to show which tile I'm hovering over. My first 2 attempts ended due to a large amount of misclicking while I figured out where exactly the pointer was on the pickaxe.The other would be to allow moving with arrow keys - it was a little tedious having to click on the arrows with the pickaxe.
